Tim's request was a Superhero birthday this year and, with Halloween so close, I thought Spiderman would be the easiest to pull off! He had a small little party with grandparents and some football family. There were a few fun, simple games. The kids loved crawling through the "spiderweb"and practicing their spidey skills by shooting the villians with silly string. There was even an appearance by Spiderman himself (Hadley in costume)! Tim seemed to have such a great time and was so excited to get the gifts he had asked for too. He really wanted a bow and arrow set and had been asking for months.
He's growing up so fast! He's starting to thin out and look less like a toddler and more like a little boy. His hair has gotten dark and coarse, and he's been asking to keep it a little longer these days. We've been working on reading with him and he's mastering his Bob books and other beginning readers. He's looking forward to being able to read on his own like his sisters do. He just finished up soccer and seemed to really enjoy it. Hopefully he'll be able to take part in more sports and activities next year now that he's 5. He really wants to try paying baseball. Tim's still the earliest riser of the bunch and immediately gets himself dressed and wants breakfast right away. Despite being the first to wake up, he's usually the one that makes us late for school! He got a great report from teacher conferences. His teacher said he is confident, independent, smart and likes to be the funny guy (but isn't a distraction). As much as we'd both been waiting for him to be able to attend school 5 days a week, now I'm missing my days alone with him. I think he misses them sometimes and the occasional nap too! He was in the 92nd percentile at his check-up. Still a big boy, but his growing seems to have slowed some. He just might be the smallest of the bunch.
The sweetest thing happened the other day. Tim realized he has a lisp. He's been pointing it out more and more and will stop to try to correct his "S"s. We all love his cute lisp. I'm sure he'll outgrow it soon, so enjoying it while we can!
