3 under 3

We can't believe it either! Adam and I got a special surprise this Christmas! I randomly took a pregnancy test on Christmas Eve morning because I planned to enjoy a few martinis at dinner that night. I took the test, brushed my teeth, looked down and didn't see two pink lines so carried on about my morning daydreaming of dirty vodka martinis. But when I went back to the bathroom later that morning, I took one more peek at the test and there was a little something. Not necessarily a fully visible line, but not nothing either. In panic mode, I started rummaging under the bathroom sink and found another test. I took another one, set it on top the dresser, and walked away. Came back a few minutes later to find two, very clear, pink lines. I was in complete shock. I wasn't expecting a positive test! At the last minute, I wrapped up the test and set it aside. I waited until Adam was done opening all his Christmas presents that day and then told him I had one last gift. He was really thrown off and said at first he thought it was a nose hair trimmer (good gift idea for next year!) and was in a little shock himself. But he immediately stood up and hugged me. We're happy to announce that baby # 3 is due on August 31 - a couple months before Hadley's 3rd birthday and Maggie will be just 16 months. So there it is, we're going to have three kids under the age of three. We must be crazy!

Our first check-up at 8 weeks went well and we got to see the tiny baby swimming around and hear the heartbeat. I have small waves of nausea here and there throughout the day, but never so bad that I need to throw up. With the girls, my morning sickness didn't last more than a week or two but it's been three weeks and counting so far. Like my other pregnancies, hot food isn't very appetizing and cold deli sandwiches always sound delicious. I've been craving a lot of salty things too. Headaches have also been an issue this time around. They usually bother me most in the evenings and keep me from getting a very good night sleep. As I near the end of my first trimester, I'm hoping some of these symptoms will calm down and I'll feel more energized!
