Hadley has been a great little sleeper for the most part...until recently. It all stems from her first and bad ear infection about a month ago. She goes down to bed fine, but then wakes up several times a night. This has been tough on everyone because I'm in my final weeks of pregnancy and Adam's work schedule has been crazy with a lot of 4am mornings. Aside from a tantrum here and there, Hadley is great during the day and a cute, happy kid. I took her to the doctor yesterday just to make sure there wasn't anything to blame her sleeping issues on like another ear infection or teething. He agreed that she's developed a little beyond her age and is experiencing her terrible two's right now. Uhhh perfect timing?! He agrees that we need to keep her out of our bed and make sure she stays in her room - even if that means listening to her cry it out for days in a row. I've been trying to tell Adam this, but he caves to her middle of the night cuddling every time :) We're probably going to set aside some days next week when Adam's schedule slows down a bit to ferberize her all over again. A lot of her sleep training will fall on his shoulders this time because in a couple weeks I'll be busy with a newborn in the middle of the night! Oh the joys of parenthood...
UPDATE: The morning I posted this, Hadley woke up a couple hours early and I let her cry it out for while since Adam wasn't home. She eventually got quiet and I assumed had fallen asleep in the rocking chair reading stories, but when I went to wake her she was happily sitting in the middle of her floor organizing her changing supplies! Last night she woke up around midnight and we decided to let her cry for a bit. Earlier in the day I moved her toy chest to the foot of the bed so she could climb up and down. Obviously, she got down from her bed and furiously jiggled the door knob...but only for about 10 minutes before crawling back into bed and sleeping through the rest of the night! We'll see how tonight goes, but at least we have one small success to celebrate.
